Dr. Patrick Tyrance is a Harvard-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery. His practice includes comprehensive non-operative, operative, and arthroscopic treatment options for bone and joint injuries related to sports, trauma, or degenerative conditions. Dr. Tyrance was a competitive collegiate athlete as a three-year letter winner on the Nebraska football team and 1991 draft pick by the Los Angeles Rams. His career as an athlete himself has shaped his approach to his surgical practice and the use of cutting edge health technologies and emphasize the elimination of pain, joint preservation, and restoration of function to safely allow patients to return to an active life as soon as possible.
Dr. Tyrance believes it is imperative that patients thoroughly understand their diagnosis, rationale of the recommended treatment plan and ensuing course of care. Using new technologies, he tries to maximize non-surgical options such as regenerative medicine (PRP and Stem Cells). When surgery is the only option, Dr. Tyrance specializes in outpatient arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder and knee; including but not limited to arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs, labral reconstructions following shoulder dislocations, SLAP tears, rotator cuff tears, knee ligament injuries including ACL, PCL tears and knee dislocations, multi-ligament knee injuries, and knee cartilage procedures involving the meniscus. He also has expertise in total joint replacement.
Dr. Tyrance received his bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and a degree in health policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. He completed his orthopedic surgery training at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Harvard Combined Orthopedic Surgery Program. Additionally, he has completed his MBA with a healthcare concentration at George Washington University. In addition to his interests in clinical medicine, Dr. Tyrance enjoys his role as a motivational speaker and consulting in leadership development and exploring strategies to maximize physician and patient engagement in the healthcare system.
